5 Keys to Healthy Eating

Most people already know the importance of healthy eating. Then why is it so hard for so many to maintain a healthy eating plan? If you struggle with following a healthy eating plan, then here are four helpful keys to keep you on the course of healthy eating.

  1. Know your food – Know what is in your food. If you cannot pronounce the ingredients, then it is probably not the best for you.
  2. Water – Your body needs adequate hydration to function properly. Drinking the right amount of water everyday can help support a healthy digestive system, your activity level and make you less inclined to unnecessarily snack. You will also feel better as your body will function optimally when it is properly hydrated.
  3. Mindful eating – Mindfulness helps you to focus on the present. Being mindful of the foods you are eating is very important. Slowing down while you eat and taking the time to enjoy your food will help you to be more aware of what is on your plate and prevent overeating.
  4. Safely navigate restaurants – When eating at a restaurant, opt for a side of veggies instead of French fries. Choose meals that are prepared in a healthy way like, baked, seared, or roasted. Drink water and avoid sugary drinks. Don’t be afraid to ask how foods are prepared. And ask for sauces and dressings to be on the side so that you can determine how much you want of it on your food.
