Is Personal Training Right for You?

Is Personal Training Right for You?

When it comes to building an exercise routine, there are many options available, such as training videos, group classes, or pre-written workout plans. In my experience, however, one of the best ways to make exercise a sustainable habit and see real results is to work with a personal trainer. In this article, I’ll be going over a few things to consider to help you decide whether personal training is the right choice for you.

  • Do you have any injuries or other physical issues? When choosing an exercise option, you should always consider your medical history, as not all activities are suitable for everybody. For instance, you may have an old injury or underlying condition that makes high-impact exercises like running a bad fit. If you are dealing with any such limitations, personal training is a great resource, as. your trainer will be there to help you create a customized workout plan that accommodates your specific needs.
  • What is your biggest obstacle to success? If you are considering personal training, chances are that you have tried to form an exercise habit on your own but have had limited success. If this is the case, it’s a good idea to think about what factors prevented you from sticking to your goal–for example, did you need a clearer explanation of how to perform the exercises? Did you need someone to keep you accountable? Hiring a personal trainer is a great way to fulfill those needs.
  • What are your goals? Lastly, I encourage you to consider your personal fitness goals before committing to a personal trainer. Working with a fitness expert one-on-one is a great way to get the personal attention and customized exercise plans you need to make definite progress, but if you are looking for a more social experience for your workouts then you may want to consider group classes instead.

*Individual results will vary.
